The Anycubic Photon M3 resin 3D‑printer marked an evolution in Anycubic’s entry‑level MSLA lineup, introducing a new 4K+ LCD engine that delivers higher optical precision and improved curing uniformity compared to earlier monochrome systems. This makes the Anycubic Photon M3 resin workflow suitable for detailed engineering and dental applications. Equipped with a 7.6‑inch 4096 × 2560 pixel LCD, the Photon M3 achieves a native pixel pitch of roughly 23 µm—an extremely fine resolution for a printer in this size class. This allows the M3 to reproduce micro‑features, sharp edges, and dimensional details that previously required larger, more expensive machines. The upgraded parallel‑matrix LED array provides a more consistent irradiance field across the entire 163 × 102 mm build area, reducing cure gradients and improving layer‑to‑layer stability, especially when printing engineering‑grade resins.
Unlike the DLP‑based Photon Ultra, the Photon M3 uses a high‑transmission monochrome LCD optimized for 405 nm photopolymerization. This makes the platform fully compatible with a wide range of third‑party engineering and dental resins, including the Liqcreate engineering resin range and Liqcreate dental materials. The printer’s optical output, spectral match, and exposure uniformity align well with the photoinitiator systems used in Liqcreate engineering, dental, flexible, and high‑performance resins. Because the M3’s LCD has a higher UV throughput than older RGB panels, exposure times can be reduced without compromising polymer conversion or mechanical strength. This is particularly beneficial for materials with higher viscosity, higher pigment loading, or tighter cure‑depth tolerances. These characteristics ensure that Anycubic Photon M3 resin profiles behave consistently across different Liqcreate materials.
From a process‑engineering standpoint, tuning the Anycubic Photon M3 resin workflow requires careful balancing of exposure energy, lift mechanics, and resin rheology. The M3’s dual‑rail Z‑axis and laser‑textured build plate provide stable adhesion during the initial layers and consistent peel forces throughout the print. However, each Liqcreate resin family—tough, elastomeric, casting, dental model, or high‑temperature—responds differently to irradiance, layer thickness, and lift speeds. Cure depth (Dp), critical exposure (Ec), and pigment absorption coefficients vary significantly between formulations, making resin‑specific parameter sets essential for achieving dimensional accuracy and surface quality. See our full Liqcreate 3D‑printer compatibility overview for cross‑system exposure guidance.

FAQ – Anycubic Photon M3 resin settings
Why do some Liqcreate resins require different UV power levels on the Anycubic Photon M3? Resins differ in photoinitiator concentration, pigment absorption and cure‑depth behavior. Materials like Premium Tough polymerize efficiently at lower irradiance, while others require full 100% UV output for consistent layer formation.
Can I use the same exposure settings across multiple Liqcreate resins on the Photon M3? No. Each resin family has its own Dp, Ec and viscosity profile. Using a single universal exposure value leads to dimensional drift, surface artifacts or insufficient polymer conversion.
Why are 25 µm, 50 µm and 100 µm profiles not available for every resin? Some materials are validated only at specific layer heights due to mechanical behavior, pigment loading or peel‑force sensitivity. Unsupported layer heights may cause over‑cure, warping or adhesion issues.
Does the Photon M3 require different lift speeds for flexible or elastomeric resins? Yes. Flexible‑X, Premium Flex and Elastomer‑X require reduced lift and retract speeds to prevent deformation during peeling and to maintain dimensional accuracy.
How do I troubleshoot under‑exposure on the Photon M3? Increase exposure in small increments (5–10%), verify bottom‑layer adhesion and inspect unsupported surfaces for softness or incomplete curing. Adjust lift speed only after exposure is stable.
Are Photon Ultra (DLP) settings compatible with the Photon M3 (MSLA)? No. DLP and MSLA systems differ in irradiance distribution, spectral output and pixel geometry. Photon Ultra profiles cannot be transferred to the Photon M3.
