The Phrozen Sonic Mini is the first generation compact MSLA system in the Mini series and supports a limited but well validated selection of photopolymer materials. Its 5.5 inch monochrome LCD and ParaLED 2.0 light engine provide predictable curing behavior when the resin formulation aligns with the optical characteristics of the printer. Because of this, only a small group of materials performs consistently on the Sonic Mini, and these have been tested specifically for this platform.
Within the broader Mini series, the Sonic Mini shares its general workflow and resin handling with the higher resolution models, but its lower pixel density and first generation hardware require exposure values that differ from the 4K and 8K variants. The resins listed on this page have been validated for the Sonic Mini and show stable curing, reliable layer formation and accurate dimensional behavior when processed with the correct settings.
This section provides an overview of the compatible resins for the Phrozen Sonic Mini, together with their material characteristics and the reasons why they perform reliably on this printer.

Liqcreate Strong X
Strong X is the most durable engineering grade resin that performs consistently on the Sonic Mini. It offers a predictable cure depth and stable mechanical behavior, which makes it suitable for functional parts and prototypes that require strength and dimensional stability. The Sonic Mini cures Strong X evenly due to its uniform light distribution, allowing layers to bond cleanly and reducing the risk of warping during printing.
Liqcreate Stone Coal Black
Stone Coal Black is the best performing detail resin for the Sonic Mini. Its matte formulation enhances the visibility of fine features and reduces the appearance of layer lines, which makes it ideal for miniatures and display models. The Sonic Mini handles this material well thanks to its short exposure times and consistent irradiance across the build area, resulting in sharp edges and smooth surfaces.
Liqcreate Bio Med Clear
Bio Med Clear is the only transparent material that maintains predictable curing and optical clarity on the Sonic Mini. It is suitable for visual prototypes, transparent components and models where internal structures must remain visible. The Sonic Mini produces a consistent cure depth with Bio Med Clear, allowing parts to remain clear after proper washing, post curing and polishing.
Why only these resins are compatible
The Phrozen Sonic Mini can technically process a much wider range of photopolymer materials because its 405 nm light source and overall optical output fall well within the requirements of all Liqcreate resins. In practice, the three resins listed on this page are the only ones included because they are the only materials that have been fully tested and validated on the first generation Sonic Mini. Other resins may also work, but they have not yet undergone controlled exposure testing on this specific printer, which means their curing behavior, dimensional accuracy and surface quality cannot be guaranteed.
